Reviews & Comments

Loved the "Peak-n-Boo" books! So creatively illustrated and cleverly written! Thank you so much for your heartwarming stories! ~ Sarah K.

I would like to know where in Jacksonville I can purchase your books. I would like to give them as presents as every child needs to learn how to take care of a pet and this is the best way I have found to do that. Thank you for your time and loving animals as much as I do. ~ Marsha L.

Schools are far to academic these days. Peek n Boo books help stimulate moral and compassionate thinking in children. Love, kindness, appreciation and caring for animals is something that needs to be discussed with young children- and these books open the door of opportunity to discuss these such things.  ~ Patricia F.

These books should be required reading in preschool, kindergarten, daycare, etc. They are GREAT books! ~ Mike B.

I loved the stories of Peak and Boo, two very special dogs who came together and formed a family.  The books are wonderfully illustrated and are perfect for the classroom with a great question and answer section at the end.  The illustrations made me laugh out loud.  The books are perfect for dog lovers. ~ Rachel M.

I highly recommend these children's books. All parents who want to give young kids an understanding of loving, being kind and compassionate towards animals should read these books with their children and grandchildren. ~ Trisha L.

These books are unique and wonderful!! They instill compassion and are educational and fun. And they give opportunity to discuss loving and caring for animals with young children. I highly recommend them. There isn't many young children's books on the market that compare to them. ~ Lynn B.

I just finished reading the first Peak-n-Boo book, "Dreams Can Come True". I give it my 'good housekeeping' stamp of approval. It made my eyes tear up. I thought it was well done, concise, to the point, just the book for a young child. I thought it was great; loved the illustrations. When I give a book my undivided attention, I do. ~ Rita F.

We received the books!  Thank you so much!  I read them one of the books during breakfast before school this morning.  They loved it!  We really enjoyed the question/answer section in the back of the book.  It is so great to be able to check their comprehension and they love being able to answer!  One of them got to take the book to class today and her teacher said she will read it to the whole class tomorrow. :) Thank you again, and for all the extras you put in there for the girls. ~ Andrea K.

Thanks so much for sending my book order - I tested them out last night as I was babysitting my youngest grandson, he's 6. He loves cats- they have 2. At first he wasn't sure if he should be having dog stories, but I read all three books to him for his bedtime reading. He really liked Peak and Book on the treadmill and talked about it this morning at breakfast!  He was also fascinated with your little handprint design with the paw print in the center. Thought you would enjoy the feedback! ~ Nikki B.

These are most enjoyable books about two dogs, "Boo", a dog and "Peak" a puppy. Boo needs a friend, and Peak needs a home. Both get their wishes. These books are to be read to children, or for children to read themselves, or to be read by any adult who loves dogs. Highly recommended! ~ Helen D.

The books are so precious, I love them, I love them !! ~ Virginia S.

I received my sets of books.  They are awesome!  D and I read all 3 right away.  Once again, you never cease to amaze me.  I know our grandkids and niece and nephews will enjoy them very much.   And, I love that you signed each book. ~ Christine T.

Makaya Vista's children's books about her dogs "Peak" and "Boo" are treasures. Being raised on books as I was (Mother was a librarian), and having raised two children similarly, I know that kids' books run the gamut. As I read these charming tales, I found myself smiling throughout. These are delightful, interactive treasures with simple yet expressive illustrations. I highly recommend them for all ages - there is something everyone can "get" in these delightful "dog tales."

Your Illustrations of Peak and Boo are utterly amazing! All the wonderful things that dogs are - loyal, compassionate, kind, playful, child-like, wise - come alive in the faces of Peak and Boo. Many hearts will be awakened in the adventures of Peak-n-Boo! You are a prophet in the new age bringing in more light and love! ~ Gayle L.

True stories, written from a dogs perspective. These charming books truly touched my heart.

~ Debbie S.

I can't wait to get my hands on these for my great grandchildren - not only cute and entertaining, but good life lessons to offer. ~ Gloria L.

Being privileged to be personally acquainted with both Peak and Boo, I can certify they are every bit as endearing and entertaining as portrayed - and have silky coats and velvety ears, too!

~ Mary B.

Peak and Boo are wonderful true stories for children that speaks of companionship and bonding. It shows the results of a good home for an animal; in this case another animal acting as a mentor which allows the puppy to return the kindness given to it.

Do dogs dream? Of course they do and those dreams can come true. ~ Jean G.

These warm, hopeful children’s books seem suitable for children just learning to read, and suitable for about 2nd-grade level. They would be particularly pleasant for a parent to read along with a child, talking about the book as the story develops. There are excellent questions at the end that would be suitable for a child that enjoys such exercises or for a small class. The illustrations are integral to the book. The stories show how dreaming affects the characters. The dreams are specifically about companionship and family – exactly the kind of things dogs really do dream about. Reviewers or editors should take note of the optimistic portrayal of animal shelters.
